I am an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences of The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and a member of the Core Management Team of the UTSA NASA Center for Advanced Measurements in Extreme Environments (CAMEE).
I obtained a B.S. in Oceanography at Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA), Argentina and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physical Oceanography (minor: mathematics) at the former College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences (COAS) now College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) of Oregon State University, USA.
Between 1996 and 2006, I was at the Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS), a cooperative institute between the University of Miami and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML). There I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate during 1996-1999, Assistant Scientist during 1999-2003, and Associate Scientist during 2003-2006. During 2002-2006, I was also an Adjunct Professor of Oceanography with the former School of Adult and Continuing Education now School of Professional and Career Education of Barry University (evenings). From 2006 to 2013 I was an Associate Professor of Environmental Sciences and Physical Oceanography at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC). From 2013 to 2016 I was a Program Director in the Physical Oceanography Program of the National Science Foundation. I was on assignment from TAMUCC where I had dual appointments as Research Associate Professor in the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences and Research Associate at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies (HRI).
